Gary Riggs Home has a new home!

Gary Riggs Home announces soft opening of 45,000 square-foot showroom, only a few short weeks after signing the lease

An extraordinary showroom, unlike anything else…

Gary Riggs is known to do some amazing things in lightening-speed turnaround times. He can design beautiful 9,000 square-foot estates, completely finished out with linens and flatware – in a matter of a day or two. His loyal clients, including celebrities and sports figures, call him a “creative genius”.

It was no surprise that he was able to finish the construction and design of his new 45,000 square-foot blank canvas of a showroom, in only a few short weeks before the ink could even dry on his lease.

This week, Riggs and his nationally-noted design team have opened the doors of this new spectacular space, Gary Riggs Home. The showroom, located on 5217 Alpha Road in Dallas across from the Galleria, was previously the old Restoration Hardware and Crate & Barrel stores.

His former location of seven years in Allen, TX, named Gary Riggs Interiors, was 34,000 square-feet. The move to the new location has brought over 10 new jobs to the Dallas area.

“I had looked at several different spaces around the metroplex over the years, and none of them felt just right,” says Riggs. “When my business partner Matt Williams and my broker Carter Wilson showed me this space, it was so unique that I instantly knew it was meant to be,” says Riggs.

Riggs will showcase dozens of various looks and environments at the new location, including everything from ultra contemporary, to very traditional, to an eclectic mix. Riggs’ visions are extraordinary. His designs break rules, melding unlikely colors, fabrics and patterns for an incredible, visually-stimulating space. His showroom is so unique that it doesn’t compare with any other in the nation, it truly stands on its own.

Price points on merchandise will range anywhere from $7.50 to $25,000, and are all hand-selected by Riggs himself, along with his trusted buyer, Michael Reese. Key brands featured include: Ralph Lauren, Baker, Century, Henredon, Sherrill, Theodore Alexander, Ferguson Copeland, E.J. Victor, Vanguard and many more.

Retail merchandise includes everything from gifts, home accessories, vases, artwork, specialty candles, to furniture, bedding and more.

Customization to each client, whether for price point or craftsmanship, is Riggs’ specialty. For example, at Gary Riggs Home, the same $10,000 sofa can also be $2,500 – depending on the client’s selection of fabric or upholstery.

“We have thousands of fabrics to choose from,” says Riggs. “We want people to understand that there is something for everyone here. We have pieces to fit all types of budgets and tastes.”

Riggs also carries his own private line, Gary Riggs Art in Design, which includes fine goods specializing in upholstery, bedding, furniture, case goods, accessories and more.

Getting personal with Gary Riggs…

At first glance, most would never know this fashion-forward, iconic designer is such a family man. At 58 years old, Riggs is a humble, devoted father of five, and grandfather of 11. His business is very family-oriented, with much help from his doting children and sister.

Riggs has always been a noted painter and artist, with much of his work having been featured in many art galleries around the country. Some of his artwork even hangs on the walls of corporations like Texas Instruments and AT&T. However, his role as an interior designer was something that he more or less stumbled upon.

After attending BYU studying Art and Design, Riggs took his first jobs helping create sets on the Donnie & Marie Osmond show and the original Footloose movie. This was where he started getting his feet wet in interior design.

One day many years ago, an art collector came to visit Riggs’ home to purchase one of his paintings. She was so impressed with how he decorated his home, that she asked him to also design her new house. Word of mouth spread, and Riggs continued to get requests to decorate peoples’ homes.

Riggs is known for making his customers lifelong clients and friends.

“I have many clients that stay with me throughout the course of their lives,” says Riggs. “I’ll design a client’s first, second and third homes, or their vacation homes. I’ve even watched their kids grow up, and then I’ll design their homes. My clients very much become like family to me.”
